Obituary for Charles D Avila

Charles D. Avila, 54, of Rifle passed away in an accident by Butler Creek, his favorite spot - and his loyal dog Sancho never left his side.

Charlie was born November 29, 1956 in Pueblo, to Baltazar & Jennie (Martinez) Avila.  He grew up in Penrose, Colorado and graduated from Florence High School.  Charlie was an avid outdoorsman - there was not one thing that Charlie did not try.

He married the love of his life, Esther, on October 20, 1995 at the Chapel of the Fountain in Las Vegas.  Charlie was passionate about his family and his wife.  There was nothing that he would not do for family & friends.  Charlie will be missed by all, especially by those that never had a chance to meet this wonderful man.

He was preceded in death by Auntie Frances, Auntie Tina, Auntie Jane, Auntie Cordelia, Uncle Jake and Uncle Joe.

Charlie leaves behind his loving wife, Esther; parents Baltazar & Jennie Avila; son Lauro (Crystal) Urbina; daughter Rebecca Petross; brothers Larry (Edna), Donnie Ray (Dolores), Jim (Lois), Greg (Karen), Tim, Vivian (Juanita) and Marc; sisters Yolanda, Vangie (Roberto), Louisa (Spencer) and Hope (Mike); mother-in-law Jose Miranda; brothers-in-law Ernesto "Milo" and Jose (Melissa) Miranda; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces & -nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 16, 10:00 am at the Rifle Funeral Home.  Charlies brother Donnie Ray will officiate.  A potluck luncheon will be held at the Rifle Moose Lodge following the services.
