Obituary for LaVetta Nelson

LaVetta Nelson passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday December 11, 2021 in Rifle Colorado

LaVetta was born January 1, 1940 in Benjamin, Utah to Elias and Marjorie Ashby. She married Kenneth J. Nelson on February 14, 1959. She enjoyed traveling, meeting new people and exploring new areas with her husband with his job. She liked making and painting crafts to sell and all the many craft fairs in Oregon. She was always up for an adventure, from working a summer in Yellowstone, or a spur of the moment trip to Louisiana from Leadville, or a trip out to the Oregon coast to show the grandkids the ocean or a trip to WA to watch her granddaughter in a rodeo.

LaVetta is survived by her daughters Cynthia Quimby of Irrigon OR. Collene(Don) Olmstead of Silt, CO. Charlotte(Kirk)Squires of Rifle, CO, Beverly (Joe) Carden, of Bridgeport WA. 10 Grandchildren and 20 Great grandchildren, Sister Maretta Koyle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents, 6 brothers and her younger sister. Granddaughter Tia Nelson. She will me missed by her family and friends

There will be a memorial service and celebration of life on Saturday April 30, 2022 She will be buried at that Divide Creek Cemetery is Silt Colorado with a celebration of life and lunch to follow also in Silt Colorado.
