Obituary for Margie Joan Plum

Margie Joan Plum
Margie Joan Bowman Plum
October 10, 1934 – October 20, 2013
Margie Joan Bowman Plum, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away on October 20, 2013 in Rifle, Colorado after a 4 year battle with Ovarian Cancer.
Margie was born in Goodland, Kansas to Ernest and Marie Bowman, and lived in Fowler, Colorado. She attended the Parks Business College and married Kenneth Clay Plum in Fort Lupton, Colorado in 1954. Margie and Ken lived for 30 years in Clinton, Iowa, where they raised their 3 daughters. Margie worked at an insurance agency, volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader, and was a member of PEO. She loved to travel, touring Australia, Europe, Israel, Jordon, China, Mexico, Canada and Hawaii. Margie was devoted to her family and friends. Margie and Ken retired to Rifle in 1994, where she was active in PEO and the church. She volunteered for 18 years at Hospice of the Valley. Margie also loved to garden; she never met a weed she didn’t want to pull!
Margie is survived by her husband Ken, daughters’ Debra Miller, Mary Jo Metzger (Joe), and Barbara Terrell (Eric), sister Barbara Larson (Frank), grandchildren Clay and Meghan Metzger, and niece Nina Larson and nephew Keith Larson, and many loving friends. We all loved her, and will miss her kindness and her love of life.
Her life will be celebrated in a Memorial Service on Monday, October 28th, at 10:30AM at the Rifle United Methodist Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle. A luncheon will follow at the Lovell Building. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Presbyterian Church or the Hospice of the Valley.
